An incredible expansion mod for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is available now, and it's completely free.

It's a good thing these fan-made Elder Scrolls expansions keep coming, because God knows we've still got a long wait for The Elder Scrolls VI ahead of us.

Fortunately, there are plenty of DLC-sized expansions to choose from, adding new content to The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, Oblivion, and of course The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

It's Oblivion that's the topic of today's discussion though, specifically the Journey to the Centre of Nirn expansion, which adds an entirely new area, new quests and new faces to annoy with the in-game dialogue.

Compared to its younger brother Skyrim, I'd argue Oblivion doesn't quite get the love it deserves nowadays, as while Skyrim is obviously the better overall game there's no denying Oblivion isn't just as good, if not better.

While the magic system left a little to be desired, it has some of the strongest gameplay Bethesda has ever produced, the narrative is still fantastic even today.

The Journey to the Centre of Nirn expansion only proves that further, making an already great game even better with never-before-seen content.

Created by Samtheson, the description reads: "Follow in the footsteps of a famous explorer and seek the truth about a long forgotten city."

It boasts 80 new locations to explore, around 100 brand-new scripted events not found in the base game and plenty of secrets to uncover as well, it also took around two years to make, so you best believe its quality.

Journey to the Centre of Nirn is available to download, for free, from NexusMods right now, and will be a great way to pass the time while we wait for news on The Elder Scrolls VI.
